Bill,Act, Law, Statute, Ordinance and Order

 

What is Bill?

Bill is draft of any document presented in Parliament for assent or approval (voting) because after approval the status of bill changed. Anyone from the legislative house can present bill in the house.

What is Act?

Bill presented in the Parliament for approval, when house approved the bill it becomes an Act. Acts help authorities to run the state within perimeters.

What is Law?

Law is the rules and regulations enforced by an authority (Government) for the rights and equality of the citizens.

What is Statute?

A statute is a formal written enactment of a legislative authority that governs a city, a state or a country.

What is Ordinance? 

Ordinance made by Authority (King or President) when he thinks that it is necessary to govern the society then he will pass ordinance in simple words and example from modern time is that when parliament is not in session or when parliament dissolved by the President and there is need of time so, The President will pass ordinance (according to Pakistani Constitution the President pass ordinance for four months) and if this ordinance get assent from parliament than it will become act. (No need to change name from ordinance to Act)

 

What is Order?

Order is made by any executive body to govern any institution it can made by Deputy Commissioner or any executive of any department. Pervaiz Mushraf was a dictator in Pakistan back in history who passed legal framework order LFO and provisional constitutional order PCO to govern because back then he proclaimed emergency and put Constitution in abeyance therefore at that time Pakistan neither had Parliament nor Constitutional.
